How To Open A Gate While Horseback

A lot of Carson James Members had been requesting a video on how to open a gate while horseback.

So I decided to make one (and to share it with you too)!

The benefit of this is pretty obvious in that you don’t have to get on and off your horse just to open a gate.

However, in order for this to work, you have to have individual control of your horse’s front and hind end (which I teach in my Fundamentals course).

Plus you also need to make sure your horse can back up smoothly (which is taught in my Fundamentals course).

After those two things are learned, this will be a breeze.

Carson James

Carson James’ background is in Vaquero Horsemanship. For the majority of his career, he worked on cattle ranches where he rode horses all day, every day. He was often in situations where he either had to figure out how to help the horse understand, or it could easily turn into a life or death situation. Carson now travels the country putting on training clinics teaching people the fundamentals of Horsemanship. He has a unique way of breaking things down where they’re easy to understand, both for the horse and the human.
